Commonly known as the Queensland tree waratah or red silky oak, is a medium-sized tree found in the Queensland tropical rain forests of north eastern Australia. It has shiny green elliptical leaves, and prominent orange-red heads of 'Waratah Type' flowers that appear from August to October. Considered Australia's most spectacular flowering tree, it will reach up to 7m high with a spread of 2-3m. Adaptable to most positions along the East Coast. Hightly attractive to honeyeating birds.
