Hicksbeachia pilosa is a small upright tree in the family Proteaceae. This rare species is endemic to the rainforests of the wet tropics region of northeastern Queensland. Very ornamental tree to 6m usually multi-stemmed & bushy. Tolerates light frost. Showy mauve to deep purple racemes on trunk & old branches. Orange to scarlet fruit. Prefers sheltered well drained site with afternoon shade. The fruit is edible and similar taste to a Macadamia. It is recommended that 2 or 3 be planted in a clump to help with pollination. These plants are in larger 75mm tubes.
