Davidsonia johnsonii, 'Smooth Leaf Plum, is an Australian Rainforest Plant which occurs naturally in N.E. NSW & S.E. Qld. It is a small tree with a spreading canopy and smooth leaves. It will grow 5-7m with a spread of 2m once established. This is a stunning foliaged small tree, with
toothed spreading leaves with continual new growth turning shades of pink to Red as it matures. This cutting grown selection is from the stand in Hogans Scrub, Tweed Shire.
Small pink flowers are followed by edible 'Plum like fruits'. The fruit is around 5cm in diameter and can weigh up to 120gms and occurs during Spring/Summer. With a deep purple coloured skin and a brilliant reddish/purple flesh and is popular for bushfood as jams, sauces and wines.
Davidsonia johnsonii's foliage andn form adds beauty to your garden, requiring an average to moist sunny to semi-shaded position, it is quite adaptable. Drought & frost hardy once established. Because of its large spreading leaves it is also highly suitable for a potted plant, although it would require a large pot, it has also proven to be a hardy indoor plant. Supplied in a 75mm (3” Pot)
